There are now just a few hours left until the start of the Olympic competition for our fellow citizen, athlete and rower Emanuele Gaetani Liseo.
His first appointment in Olympic water, together with his teammates from the blue eight, will be tomorrow, Monday 29 July at 11.40am.
A historic date for our Emanuele who, to prepare for the Olympics, was on retreat with the national team at the federal center in Piediluco.
Emanuele is a very young athlete who is twenty-seven years old and who started rowing at the age of twelve. The discovery and training of this athlete are due to the Telimar club of Palermo which, during a presentation of the discipline in Piana degli Albanesi, managed to intrigue Emanuele who immediately became passionate about this sport.
His sunny and contagiously social character is very similar to that of his father Salvatore and his mother Giorgia Dorangricchia, employee of the Municipality of Piana degli Albanesi. Emanuele can also boast of being the grandson of Don Paolo who was one of the historic drivers of Prestia and Comandè and who marked the lives of thousands of students who saw him as a grandfather with his smile, his kindness and his elegance patient, protective and full of affection.
Emanuele Gaetani Liseo has made many sacrifices in all these years and has had the great support of his family, of Telimar who can be considered part of his family. He was recently registered as a Navy athlete.
His humility, great tenacity and an incredible passion for rowing rewarded him by taking him to Paris.
In the history of Piana degli Albanesi it is the first time that one of its citizens participates in the Olympics and the whole community of Piana degli Albanesi must feel proud of Emanuele and of what he also represents as a model for many young people who are approaching sport.
We are all with Emanuele, who is already our champion and who has already won for us, participating in the XXXIII edition of the modern Olympics taking place in Paris.
